Ad Platform Updates: What Changed This Week (Oct 27, 2026)

Here’s this week’s round-up of ad platform changes that matter for small business advertisers, with what to do about each one.

This week’s quick list:

  • Meta delays its new ad terms to November 20
  • Meta removes ad set placement controls for most campaign objectives
  • LinkedIn lets campaigns spend up to 2x the daily budget on a given day
  • Meta’s block on TikTok-linked ads is reshaping where ad money goes
  • Reminder: Meta product browsing switches on for existing ads tomorrow

Meta delays its new ad terms to November 20

Meta has pushed back its revised Commercial Terms and Self-Serve Ad Terms from October 30 to November 20, 2026. The terms have drawn complaints from publishers and advertisers over how Meta could crawl business websites and use content for its AI products. Meta says it needs more time to explain what’s changing, and hasn’t announced changes to the wording. (PPC Land)

What to do: If you advertise on Facebook or Instagram, read the updated terms before November 20. Continuing to use Meta’s business tools after that date counts as accepting them.

Meta removes ad set placement controls for most objectives

Meta’s Business Help Centre now says Engagement, Leads, App promotion and Sales campaigns no longer allow manual placement selection at the ad set level. Awareness and Traffic campaigns keep it. Instead, Meta points advertisers to per-placement creative, placement value rules that raise or lower bids for specific placements, and new account-level placement exclusions. Meta says the change is rolling out gradually. (Relevant Audience, Jon Loomer)

What to do: If you’ve been excluding placements like Audience Network to protect a small budget, check your account controls for the new account-level exclusions. And make sure you have creatives that work in vertical and square formats.

LinkedIn raises the daily spend allowance to 2x

LinkedIn is increasing the maximum a campaign can spend on any single day from 1.5x to 2x the daily budget. For example, a campaign with a ₹5,000 daily budget could spend up to ₹10,000 on a busy day. Weekly spend for continuous daily-budget campaigns is still capped at seven times the daily budget. The rollout started in early October and is expected to finish by the end of the month. (Influent)

What to do: If you watch LinkedIn spend daily, update any alerts so a single high-spend day doesn’t cause unnecessary panic. Your weekly total won’t change.

Meta’s TikTok ad block is moving ad budgets

Since October 8, Meta has stopped running ads from TikTok and ByteDance in seven countries, including the US and Canada. The block also covers other advertisers’ ads that send people to TikTok, such as TikTok Shop listings or a brand’s TikTok account. (Adweek) Since then, reports say TikTok has shifted more of its own ad spend to YouTube, Pinterest and Google’s AdMob. (DesignRush)

What to do: India isn’t on the list for now. But if you run Meta ads in any of these countries that point to a TikTok profile or TikTok Shop, send people to your own website or Instagram instead.

Reminder: product browsing switches on tomorrow

As covered last week, Meta will turn on in-app product browsing by default for existing ads from October 28 unless you opt out. (PPC Land)

What to do: If you want every click to go to your own site, opt out today or turn it off per ad in Advantage+ Creative and Destination settings.

  • ✅ Check your account-level placement exclusions in Meta
  • ✅ Update LinkedIn spend alerts for the new 2x daily allowance
